Jacob Arney
Jacob Arney

Knowns:

We know that Jacob Arney's first son, Christian Arney,
was born in 1750, in York County, Pennsylvania.

We know Jacob Arney lived in York County, Pennsylvania,
before moving his family to North Carolina in 1767.  The
circumstances surrounding the move are not yet clear.

We know that Jacob Arney purchased 200 acres of land
near the Catawba River in 1772, before Peter Arney's birth.

We know that Jacob Arney left a will in 1784, naming his wife,
Elizabeth and children as his beneficiaries.  The original will still
exists in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh, NC.
It has faded over the years unfortunately, so only about the
bottom third of the will is readable.

We know that Christian Arney, Jacob's eldest son, inherited
most if not all of Jacob Arney's land after his death.

We know that Peter Arney, orphaned son of Jacob Arney, was
bound to a John Fullenwider in 1787 to learn the trade of a
miller until the age of 21.
